Hammer Corals are a popular LPS coral loved for their flowing tentacles and unique hammer-shaped tips. They're relatively easy to care for and add plenty of movement to a reef tank.

LIGHTING

Moderate lighting is usually ideal. They can adapt to a range of lighting conditions but generally don't appreciate extremely intense light.

FLOW

Moderate, indirect flow works best. You want the tentacles to gently sway rather than being whipped around by strong currents.

FEEDING

Hammer Corals get most of their energy from light, but they can benefit from occasional feedings of coral foods, mysis shrimp, or other small meaty foods.

PLACEMENT

Place them in an area where they have room to expand. Their tentacles can extend further than expected, especially at night.

WATER QUALITY

Stable water parameters are important for healthy growth. Keep alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, and temperature as consistent as possible.

TANK MATES

Give Hammer Corals plenty of space from other corals. They can send out sweeper tentacles and sting nearby neighbours if placed too close.
