Acropora Purple Frag

Acropora corals are some of the most sought-after SPS corals in the reef hobby, known for their incredible colours, branching growth, and fast growth potential. They can be a little more demanding than other corals, but the results are well worth it.

LIGHTING
Moderate to high lighting is essential. Acropora thrive under strong reef lighting and often display their best colours when lighting is dialled in correctly.

FLOW
Strong, turbulent water flow is important. They prefer plenty of random flow to keep detritus from settling and to help support healthy growth.

FEEDING
Acropora get most of their energy from light, but they can benefit from occasional feeding of fine coral foods and amino acid supplements.

PLACEMENT
Typically placed higher in the rockwork where they can receive strong light and flow. Start new frags lower and gradually move them into brighter areas if needed.

WATER QUALITY
Stability is everything with Acropora. Consistent alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, nutrient levels, and temperature are critical for long-term success.

TANK MATES
Acropora are generally peaceful but should be given enough room to grow without touching neighbouring corals.

Overall, Acropora corals are best suited to established reef tanks with stable parameters and strong lighting and flow. When their needs are met, they reward reef keepers with impressive growth, vibrant colours, and stunning reef structures
