PLACEMENT

Place Gorgonians in an area where they receive plenty of water movement. Many reef keepers position them in the middle to upper sections of the rockwork where flow is strongest. Avoid areas where detritus can accumulate on the colony.

WATER QUALITY

Gorgonians appreciate stable reef parameters, including consistent salinity, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, nutrient levels, and temperature. Moderate nutrient levels are often beneficial, especially for photosynthetic species.

TANK MATES

Gorgonians are generally peaceful and work well in mixed reef aquariums. Provide enough space between them and neighbouring corals to allow for growth and to prevent other corals from stinging their tissue.

MAINTENANCE

Inspect the colony regularly for algae growth or areas where tissue may be receding. Good flow and stable water quality will help prevent most common issues and keep the coral looking its best.
