Duncan Coral Frag (Duncanopsammia axifuga)

Duncan Corals (Duncanopsammia axifuga) are a fantastic LPS coral known for their long, flowing tentacles and bright green centres. They're hardy, beginner-friendly, and often one of the fastest-growing LPS corals in a reef tank.

LIGHTING

Moderate lighting is ideal. Duncan Corals can tolerate a range of light levels, but they generally thrive under moderate reef lighting and will often show good polyp extension when they're happy.

FLOW

Low to moderate flow works best. Aim for a gentle, indirect flow that allows the tentacles to sway naturally. Too much flow can cause the polyps to stay partially closed.

FEEDING

Duncan Corals get much of their energy from light, but they are enthusiastic feeders and benefit greatly from regular feeding. Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, reef roids, and other small meaty foods can help encourage faster growth and larger heads.

PLACEMENT

Place Duncan Corals on the sand bed or in the lower to middle areas of the rockwork. They are adaptable but should be positioned where they can fully extend without being blasted by strong flow.

WATER QUALITY

Stable water parameters are important for long-term health and growth. Keep alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, and temperature as consistent as possible to promote healthy tissue and new head formation.

TANK MATES

Duncan Corals are generally peaceful and mix well with many reef-safe tank mates. While they can sting nearby corals if they come into direct contact, they are much less aggressive than many other LPS species. Give them a little room to grow and expand.

GROWTH

One of the best things about Duncan Corals is their growth rate. Under good conditions and with regular feeding, they can quickly produce new heads and grow into a large, impressive colony.

Duncan Corals are an excellent choice for reef aquariums, combining beautiful movement, easy care, and rapid growth. In a stable tank with moderate light, gentle flow, and occasional feeding, they'll often become one of the most eye-catching and rewarding corals in your collection.
