Leptastrea Coral
$99.00
Leptastrea corals are beautiful encrusting corals that are highly prized for their vibrant colours, intricate growth patterns, and ability to thrive in lower-light areas where many other corals struggle.
LIGHTING
Low to moderate lighting is preferred. They naturally occurs in deeper reef environments and often displays its best colouration under gentler lighting conditions. Excessively intense light can sometimes cause fading or bleaching.
FLOW
Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal. They appreciate enough movement to keep the surface clean and deliver nutrients.
FEEDING
Leptastrea receive most of their energy from light through their zooxanthellae. However, they can benefit from occasional feedings of fine particulate coral foods, reef roids, or amino acid supplements to promote growth and colouration.
PLACEMENT
Best placed in lower to middle areas of the aquarium where lighting is less intense. New frags should be acclimated carefully to avoid light shock.
WATER QUALITY
Stable water parameters are important for long-term success. Maintain consistent alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, nutrients, and temperature. While generally more forgiving than many LPS species, Leptoseris still benefits from a mature and stable reef environment.
TANK MATES
Leptastrea are generally peaceful but should be provided adequate space from aggressive corals. Their growth can spread over surrounding rockwork, so give them room to expand naturally.
Overall, Leptastrea corals are an excellent option for reef keepers wanting striking colours and unique growth forms without the demanding requirements of some other coral species. Their adaptability to lower light areas makes them perfect for adding interest and colour to parts of the reef where other corals may not thrive.
