Acanthastrea Lordhowensis
$199.00
WYSIWYG - 7cm
Acanthastrea (or "Acans") are a great choice for reef tanks and are known for their bright colours and fleshy polyps.
LIGHTING
Moderate lighting is usually best. Too much light can cause them to lose colour, while too little may slow growth.
FLOW
Keep them in an area with low to moderate water movement. They like enough flow to keep debris off them, but not so much that their flesh is constantly being blown around.
FEEDING
Acans can get most of their energy from light, but they really appreciate occasional feedings of reef foods, mysis shrimp, or other meaty foods. Feeding can help improve growth and colour.
PLACEMENT
Place them on the sand bed or lower to middle areas of the rockwork until you know how they'll respond to your tank conditions.
WATER QUALITY
Stable parameters are key. Aim for consistent alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, and temperature.
TANK MATES
Give them a bit of space from neighbouring corals, as they can extend feeder tentacles at night and may sting nearby corals.
Overall, Acans are fairly hardy, colourful corals that do well in a stable reef aquarium and reward a little extra feeding with great growth and vibrant colours.
